Climate change is the long-term alteration of temperature and typical weather patterns in a place. Unexpected weather patterns cause massive disturbances as intense rainfall, floods, hurricanes and winter storms. Unprecedented rates of melting glaciers and ice sheets are making sea levels rise in various parts of the planet, resulting in damaged coastlines. Human activity is increasing greenhouse gases in the earth's atmosphere, trapping heat and causing Earth's average temperature to rise. (National Geographic,2021)
Climate Adaptation
It refers to altering our behavior, systems, and - in some cases - ways of life to protect our families, our economies, and the environment in which we live from the impacts of climate change. We need to respond to the impacts of climate change that are already happening, as well as prepare for future impacts. Adaptation solutions take many shapes and forms. There is no 'one-size-fits-all-solution' - adaptation can range from building flood defenses to switching to drought-resistant crops.

Climate Mitigation
It refers to avoiding and reducing emissions of heat-trapping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere to prevent the planet from warming to more extreme temperatures. Mitigation strategies include retrofitting buildings to make them more energy efficient; adopting renewable energy sources like solar, wind and small hydro; helping cities develop more sustainable transport such as bus rapid transit, electric vehicles, and biofuels; and promoting more sustainable uses of land and forests.
