One of the longest-ruling dynasties in world history, the Cholas made a seminal contribution to art, architecture, literature, music and more. The ITC Grand Chola revives the magnificence and artistic cornucopia of that era in a spectacular edifice that has become a landmark in Chennai. The hotel's exteriors have been carved and textured in a unique style that reflects traditional temple architecture first seen in the time of the Cholas. An imposing presence standing amid eight acres of landscaped gardens.
The unique carved and textured exterior resembles the great temples of the Chola period – The Brihadeshwarar and many others in the Thanjavur district. Sangam, the grand lobby, follows a temple cloister design. The pristine expanse of the pastel-hued lobby is interspersed with Dravidian pillars positioned symmetrically. Traditional stone carvers and sculptors from Tamil Nadu have contributed to the inimitable interiors of the hotel in the form of visual motifs influenced by Chola themes.
ITC Grand Chola is LEED Platinum (under exisiting building) & LEED Zero Carbon Certified Hotel, currently meets close to entire electrical energy demand through self-owned wind farms and solar farms also achieves almost complete recycling of waste generated by hotel operations. Many such initiatives help the hotel deliver planet positive experiences.
